I’ve made it through the morning with the Di Masis cheering me along. Rosie’s dad Max sang a selection of his favourite tunes (‘I Did it My Way’ was his favourite. He sang it twice!!), and her mum and cousins joined in, banging on saucepans with wooden spoons. The work all seemed to get done and I didn’t even notice how hot it was. And as for thinking about Will?

I might have been, but I couldn’t hear myself think above the noise.

Rosie’s dad is a bit like mine, King of his Castle. He seems happy as can be in this little sardine can . . . or should I say, anchovy tin.

I get it now about the anchovy and the tuna. I can’t see how Jake Blake could be having any better time in that massive air-conditioned trailer of his. And of course, that reminds me, I have to get Tilly’s note to him. When there’s a break just before we set up the lunch table, I tell Rosie that I’m going to the toilet and I bog off.

Looks like everyone is filming down on the oval today. All the extras have been kitted out in sports gear and are waving blue and yellow streamers, so I guess they’re onto that inevitable scene in most teen movies where the hero does battle with the sports jocks.

In Monster Class 3 Joey Willis is into track and field instead of basketball this ‘semester’. I haven’t read the whole script because I don’t want to spoil the end when I watch it, but I imagine it will go something like: one of the jocks rigs the pole vault or puts bamboo stakes into the sandpit for the triple-jump, and Jake stumbles and falls and the crowd goes ‘ooooooh’, and that makes him depressed, then really mad and soon he’s out for revenge.

Until at the end the crowd goes ‘yaaaaay’.

I know I’m sounding cynical, but I just can’t help it. I used to love Monster Class as much as anyone else, but now I’m living it? Not so much.

I’m hoping Jake’s not already down there on the oval and then I see that prison guard in the hair helmet hanging around near the back of the hall in conversation with the director, so I know he must be in his trailer because he never goes anywhere without her.

I skirt around the back of the bushes so I’m not seen (yep, I AM Ms Bond. Ms Jamie Bond) and rap on the door, right in the middle of that silver star.

‘Gigi?’ I hear Jake call and then instantly he wrenches open the door and is standing there, just in a pair of shorts. Oh my goodness, he definitely works out. A very lot. I mean Will has a great body, but he’s not as pumped as Jake. Check those muscles! He is hot!

‘Oh, sorry. I thought . . . Hey. Elly, isn’t it?’ he says and gives me a trillion-volt smile. (OMG. He remembered my name! I practically somersault off the top step and fall on my head, senseless.
